About Us

The story of The Computer Loft is a true Texas tale of community, timing, and a bit of musical harmony. Long before a brick-and-mortar storefront existed, founder Wes Ashburn was already embedded in the La Vernia community. Back in 2006, Wes was hosting community computer classes where local kids and adults built their own machines from scratch—back when computer monitors were still the size of mini-fridges. By the early 2010s, he was splitting his time working as a private IT contractor around town and running a music teaching studio called The Music Loft. Everything changed in 2013. The local Radio Shack, which residents had relied on for tech needs, shuttered its doors and left town. Suddenly, La Vernia had a tech void, and Wes saw an open door. Operating out of the exact same building as his music studio, he set up shop on the second floor. Looking out over the town from that elevated perch, the name practically wrote itself: The Computer Loft. What started as a tiny office quickly turned into a bustling tech hub. Before long, Wes’s desk was inundated with desktops and laptops. When smartphones took over the world, customers began climbing the stairs asking for phone repairs, too. Wes needed more space and more hands.

Over the years, the business expanded out of that original second-story room to keep up with demand. The shop grew into a comprehensive, full-service IT resource for both local residents and small businesses. They evolved to repair "pretty much anything with a screen"—from gaming PCs and tablets to drones and game consoles. Eventually, the business moved down to a highly accessible storefront in the H-E-B shopping center, and even deployed a fully-stocked service van to handle on-site emergencies around Wilson County. The roots of the business grew so strong that it expanded into a second location out in Canyon Lake, Texas. Even with multiple locations, a fleet of services, and advanced diagnostic gear, the heart of the business never left that original loft. Today, the team prides itself on knowing their clients by name rather than ticket number, ensuring that La Vernia always has a dependable neighbor to keep them connected..
